Cementerio de Colón
This enormous cemetery (Calle Zapata) is considered to be one of the five
most impressive of the world. The marble monuments compete for kitsch
and pathos, but no panic, there are also fine monuments in art deco and
radical modernist style.
Mausoleum of the Steinhart family.
Mausoleum of the Cespedes family.
Sindicato Empleados Obreros Autobuses Modernos.
Mausoleum for the Japanese colony in Havana.
Mausoleum for Raúl de Zárraga (left) designed in 1956 by
Eugenio Batista.
Havana Reporters Association Mausoleum. By the hand of Arnaldo Mesa,
and also dating from 1956. An assymmetric cross accompanies a wallspan
chapel.
Mausoleum for the Núñez-Gálvez family. Created
in 1957 by the architects Max Borges Recio and Enrique Borges.
