INTRODUCTION
Artisanat Claude Désaulniers is proud to present to you a few
models of its « duck » collection, also known as
« decoy», and also some other bird models. All our
models are entirely hand-made with style from the past for which
we are striving to maintain the authencity of each and everyone
of them.
Back then,
« wooden ducks » was used as « decoys »
by the hunters. These days « wooden ducks » are
second to plastic. They are now destined for decorative
purposes and collectors really appreciate them.
Most of the works of art are made
from « pine wood » and some of them are still
being made from « cedar wood ». Each work of
art is carefully sculpted before assembly, so similar
« decoys » may be reproduced five different ways the
old fashioned way. The color application and protection
layers will finalize the work of art itself.
The
hand-made production of these works of art and the antique finish
is a well kept family secret which is very exclusive.

I am part
of the five generation of sculptors, and my work is signed
« C.D. » which stands for Claude Désaulniers. Occasionnally,
even if he is not a young man anymore, you might still see some
work of art signed « B.D. » for Bruno Désaulniers
who happens to be a member of the fourth generation.
You will
certainly be enthused by the hard work accomplished by five
generations of « Désaulniers ». We hope this
catalogue will be of assistance in selecting our hand crafted
products.
Who knows! A
sixth generation might be added in the years to come. We
might have some pieces signed « E.D. » for Eric
Désaulniers to add to your present collection!
