Supportive Events & Achievements

 

(a) Employment of an Administrative Secretary in the person of Ms Priscille Domingue, which has greatly helped to put some order in the generally chaotic situation which had been existing in the MBA office.

(b) Opening of a Library with 15 IBF cassettes on: Basic Training, Strategies on Singles, Doubles and Mixed, Highlights of international matches (Olympics, World Championships, etc.), an interactive CD on training, book on Physical training for Badminton. Cost of Rs12,000.

(c) Setting up of clubs in Grand Port (Yellow Stones, White Lilies & Fleurs de Lys), Flacq (Boulet Rouge SC) and Rodrigues (Rodrigues Badminton Club & Marechal Badminton Club) and two more regional committees (Grand Port Regional Badminton Committee and Rodrigues Regional Badminton Committee).

(d) Launching of a Badminton School at Vacoas-Phoenix and of another one at Souillac under the aegis of the Vacoas-Phoenix Municipality and Grand Port-Savanne District Council.

(e) Introduction of Badminton in the MSSSA calendar of activities - a tournament involving the Benjamins and the Minims (September)

(f) Initiating a badminton project at Lycee Labourdonnais as from September.

(g) Start of a 6-month programme on physical training in view of the forthcoming All Africa Senior Championships 2002 by July, with the voluntary collaboration of Mr Jean Marc Palma, Head of Physical Department, Lycee Labourdonnais, a qualified Preparateur Physique. This measure has been taken in waiting for the DTN.

(h) Hopefully the employment of a Chinese coach by the end of December, after the absence of a DTN for two years by now.

(i) Setting up a rational system of Court Rental, which has more than doubled the annual income, which is subsequently being re-invested in the development of badminton.

(j) A Physiotherapist attached to the national teams (Senior and Junior) - Mr. Rohunsing Sreepaul who has been calling at the NBC on Wednesdays since June 01.
