     The Staten Island 's fugitives according to the newspapers of that time, by Alfredo Becerra. Testimonies of newspapers reunited for the very first time about the runaway of prisoners of the Staten Island in the Southern Atlantic, where there was a military prison. They escaped in December 1902, in three boats confronting the sea, the unending persecution and the hunger. Shortly before had begun the transfer from the military prison to Tierra del Fuego because of the bad conditions and the unhealth. The newspapers disclosed the conditions of their capture and revealed that in the prison they died in an overwhelming proportion.
