 Hard Tricks

Effect: Performer gives spectator a heart faced card (say it is an ace of hearts) face down between the thumb and index finger. Performer then gives spectator a diamond face card(the ace of diamonds) on top of the other card. The spectator thinks that he has a heart and a diamond. The performer grabs the heart from the bottom of the spectors fingers and says, "I'm teaching you the move right now in slow motion." He then does it in fast motion and pretends to switch the cards by shoving the heart card in and out fast between the thumb and index finger. Performer then puts the card back on top and says, "What do you bet, hearts on top or on the bottom?" When they make a choice and turn the cards over they are a club and a spade!

Preperation

On the top of the deck have a heart, spade, and a diamond. Make sure that you have the spade between the two and place this on top. Also place a slub on the bottom of the deck. For example, on top of the deck you have an ace of hearts first, queen of spades second, and ace of diamonds third. The bottom card of the deck is the queen of clubs. Now you are ready!

Presentation

Start by lifting off the top card (ace of hearts) and say, "Remember hearts." give this card to spectator between his thumb and index finger (looks like spectator is pinching the card) faced down. You then do a double lift and show the ace of diamonds and say, "Diamond." (To give you some time to get a double lift ready you can ask the spectator what card he has and to look at it to make sure it is ok.) You then place the diamond with the queen behind it on top of the deck and give spectator the queen which he thinks is the diamond. Place this on top of the ace of hearts. You say, "I will teah you the move in slow motion." You then put the queen on top take the heart from underneath, and turn it around to show spectator and say, "See I have the heart." After this you take the heart shove it between spectators fingers fast. What you are trying to do here is make the spectator believe that you are switching the heart and the diamond. After you shove it in and out your hand goes to the top of the deck, release the heart, and grab the other queen from the bottom of the deck. You put the queen on top of the other queen in spectators hand and that is it. The most difficult part of this trick is the last switch. To make it easier you have to keep on talking. While you are swithcing from the deck say, "Now, do you bet the heart is on the top or bottom?" You have to be quick and keep the spectators eyes off of the deck. The spectator will then make a prediction but they are totally wrong .

Effect: A card is selected at victim's free will. The deck is cut in half and the card is replaced on the bottom half. One by one, 4 cards are shown from the bottom of the deck and placed on a table. Card is subsequently slapped out of hand from packet of four cards

No prep. Pick whatever card victim wants, w/o looking at it. Cut while victim is memorizing card, and finger break one card one card off the top of the bottom half. Have victim replace on top of bottom, with both cards being held up. Replace top half, and be sure to keep two cards seperated. Cut at the break you made, and shuffle as desired making sure to keep in place the bottom 2 cards. Show the victim the bottom card and ask if it is thier card. Glide the second card (the chosen card) to a table and put bottom card on the top of the deck. Repeat 3 other times. Lay them seperately, and make sure to remember which one was the chosen card. Set deck as far away as needed. Collect the four cards off the table, not revealing them, and putting the chosen card 2nd from bottom while collecting. Ask if the card on bottom is theirs, glide 2nd card (chosen) to table and put bottom card on top of packet. Repeat until all four cards are in one packet on table. Place packet, with chosen card on bottom, in between victim's index and middle finger knuckles, and tell to hold firmly, not tightly. Slap cards, and if desired card is not in hand, pick up off ground if needed and show to victim.

Effect: Showing the front side of your hand empty and then producing a a card from that same hand out of thin air

Card Trick:

Step 1- Take 2 or 3 cards and place them in the back of your hand. To hold the cards in the back of your hand place the top edge top corner of the card block between your index and middle finger. Place the top edge bottom corner between your ring finger and your pinky, this is called the back palm position

. Step 2- With the cards in back palm position take your thumb and gently pull one card from the top edge top corner, between your index and middle fingure, pull the card until it is free from the ring fingure, and pinky. continue to pull the card until it slides threw your index and middle fingure ,and into the front of your palm.

Tips

1. It is better to use a deck with no border on it I would suggest the Bee deck wich can be found at Zellers and Wal-mart.

2. Use the back of the cards so the back of the card will be facing the back of your hand

3. Make sure to let as little edge show as possible.

4. It is best to keep the hand in slight motion when performing this trick, and get the red deck so when your hand is in motion the color will blend in with your hand.

Effect: After having a card selected, the performer drops the deck into a hat. Asking the person how many spots wre on the noted card, the performer reaches into the hat and pretends to take out that many number of spots and flips them away. The spectator is now asked to remove the deck and see if his card is there, but it has vanished! Another spectator raises the window curtaain and, astonishingly enough, the selected card is seen to be sticking to the outside window looking in!!

Card Trick:

If at home steal a card from a deck - 2 of spades and 2 of clubs. Go outside and plant the 2 of spades on the window looking in. Fake the club card by sticking to it two small triangles of black paper with saliva. These peices, over the club pips, turn them into spade spots. Add this card to the deck upon your return and force it any way you please but don't let the spectator look at it himself. Take it from him/her and step back, holding the card so all but you can see the face of it. This little distance prevents a close inspec tion, but at three feet the card is certainly a spade. Drop the card on the deck and give it an overhand suffle which leaves the fake 2 of spades on the bottom. Drop the deck into the hat face up and ask the number of spots on the chosen card. Reach in, and take the pieces of paper, roll them into three balls in your fingers and flick them away, one at a time. Take the deck out, face down, and tell the spectator to find his/her card. It's, of course, gone and you are ready for the finale with the card being found looking in through the window.

Description: An adapted four ace trick

1. Tossing the four aces face up onto the table. Arrange the aces in a face-down row. 2. Fan off three cards from the top of the deck and place them on top of one of the aces. 3. Tap the pile of four cards. 4. Place the pile of four cards on top of the deck. As you do so, get a break with your left little finger beneath the top card of the four. Double-cut this card to bottom of the deck. 5. Turn the deck showing the bottom card the ace is not theirs. Turn over the top card the ace is not theirs ether. 6. Now fan off the top three cards and place them on another ace. 7. Pick up the four cards place ontop of deck. 8. Double-cut the top card to the bottom of the deck. Show the bottom card ace is not theirs. Show the top card the ace is not their. 9. The procedure this time is a little different. Fan off three cards from the top of the deck and place them on top of one of the two remaining aces. 10. Pick up the four-card pile. 11. Carefully even the pile up now turn the pile over, showing the ace on the bottom. 12. Place the pile face down on top of the deck. 13. Show the top and bottom cards as before. 14. At this point double-cut the top card to bottom. 15. Fan off the top three cards on top of the last ace. 16. Place the four cards on top of the deck. Deal off the top three cards their are the four aces.

Effect: The magician asks a spectator to pick a card out of the deck. He shuffles the cards. Then, counting from the bottom of the deck, he spells out the spectator's card without even knowing what it is. On the last card, he reveals it to be the spectator's card.

Card Trick:

The only two sleights used in this trick are the false shuffle and the glide. When the spectator returns his card, shuffle it to the bottom of the deck. Then give it a false shuffle. Bang the edge of the cards on the edge of the talbe, supposedly squaring the cards up, but really glimpsing the spectator's card. Then execute the glide. Say the spectator's card was the seven of diamonds. Begin to spell it, saying you are picking up vibes. One card per letter, pulling out the cards immediately above the bottom card. Then, on the last letter, the "s" in this case, pull out the spectator's card. This'll knock their socks off

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Effect: The preformer gives an audience member all Red cards in a deck and the Ace of Spades. The preformer turns around while the audience member places the Ace into the Red cards and shuffles any way that they would like. The preformer then turns around takes the cards into his hand. He gives the cards a few shakes and the Ace magicaly flies into the air.

Card Trick:

You must have an Ace of Spades from another deck with an alike back to preform this trick.

Before the trick you must remove all black cards accept the Ace of Spades from the deck. Also hide the other Ace of spades in your pants pocket or anywhere else where the audience cannot see it.

Give the red cards and Ace of spades to the audience member. Turn your back to act like your not watching the member shuffle. What you are actually doing is pulling the other ace from your pocket and Back palming it. Back palming is a method where you place the card face down on the back of your hand. Then grip the top-right corner between your pinky and ring finger, and grip the top-left corner between your index and middle finger. This will put the card flush against the back of your hand. Make sure no edges are showing on the palm of your hand.

When the member is done shuffling turn around (make sure to keep the back of your hand turned away from the audience to conceal your card). Tell the member to place the shuffled cards in your hand face up(the one with the card). Give the cards a couple of shakes then move your hand in a jerking movement while loosening up on the ace on the back of your hand. This will send the card flying in the air. When it lands the audience will be amazed and think that this was the original Ace.

Effect: A spectator takes a card, takes the rest of the deck and places their card on top. The spectator then hands the cards back to the Magacian who insists that the spectator disobeyed the rules and placed their card in the middle of the deck instead of the top. The spectator denighs this saying that they did infact put the card on top. To prove them wrong the magacian holds up the top card to reveal that the card is infact the wrong one. The magician makes a point to say that the rules are important and must be followed and instructs the spectator to remember the "new" card that was held up by the magacian. The magacian himself then places the card on top of the deck and makes sure everyone sees him/her do it. The magician finally proceeds with the real trick, shuffling the deck, then turning over the top card to reveal the "original" card that was suposedly lost before the trick was ever performed.

Card Trick:

This trick is simple if you know some fundamental skills but you must know them well. This trick is between intermediate and hard.

Required skills:

To do this trick you must be able to palm a card and false shuffle. make sure you can do these well before performing this trick. You must be able to do them very discretely without making it obvious.

Procedure:

1) Fan cards and invite spectator to take one. 2) Distract the player by talking, telling a story, or eyeballing them ... etc. 3) While they are distracted take the cards in one hand and pretend to square the deck. while "squaring" the cards slip the top card off the deck and palm it in your free hand. 4) Hand the cards to the spectator and tell them to place their card on top. Tell them its important that they follow the rules. 5) When they have completed this, take the cards back and tell them that you are now going to shuffle the deck. 6) Before you do, square the deck and place the palmed card on top. then stop and look the spectator in the eyes. 7) Say something like "I don't think you put the card on top. you put it in the middle didn't you? I told you to put it on top. You have to follow the rules. We'll have to start over now." 8) The spectator will denigh this and insist that they put their card on top. tell them that you'll prove them wrong and ask them what their card was. 9) Hold up the top card and show them that it is not the card they chose but (important) don't look at the card. 10) Hand the card to them and tell them that this will be their new card. tell them to memorize it and show it to everyone but you. 11) While they are looking at the card, palm the top card of the deck in your hand 12) If you followed all the directions so far then the card you are palming is their "original pick" 13) Take the new card from them and place it on top of the deck so they can see you do it. The rest of the trick is simple. 14) Square the deck placing the palmed card on top of the deck as before. this time their original card WILL be on top. 15) Shuffle the cards using a false shuffle so that their card stays on top and never moves. make sure it looks like they are giving it a good shuffle. 15a) As a variation you can have the spectator shuffle the cards before you place the palmed card on top. 16) Finally say some mumbojumbo magic stuff and turn over the top card. The card will be the original pick, your audience will be amazed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ask the spectator to spread a pack of cards, which they have shuffled, face down on the table. Tell them to remove a card from the upper part of the spread, note what the card is, and place it in the lower part of the spread. When the card is inserted into the lower part of the spread, make a mental estimate of how far the card is from the end of the spread.

Gather the cards and put them behind your back. Count off to within four cards of the estimated position, and put them on top. Take off 4 cards from the top and one from the bottom and ask if the card is among the five. If not discard them and repeat. When the card appears you know it is the one drawn from the bottom.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Effect: Spectator chooses a card at random, initials it, puts it on top of the deck, cuts the deck then shuffles it, and when the magician snaps the card magically goes to the top of the deck. Then the magician tells the spectator what the chosen card was.

Card Trick: Fan out the deck, and have a spectator choose any card. Tell the spectator to show the card to the audience but don't let you see it. Hand the spectator a marker and tell him/her to put his/her initials on the card, and put the card on top of the deck. Square up the deck and secretly palm the spectators card while distracting him/her by saying how the cards in that deck have a strange way of jumping to different places in the deck. Tell the spectator to cut the deck and shuffle the deck. While the spectator is cutting and shuffling the deckglimpse at the palmed card, and memorize it. When the spectator is finished take the deck in your left hand, bring it to the right hand, and put the palmed card on topof the deck while squaring it. Then snap your fingers and have the spectator take the top card, which is the card he/she chose and initialed. Then tell the spectator what his/her card is.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Effect: Magician shows the four kings to the spectators. He then places three of the kings in different parts of the deck. The spectator is then told to cut the deck into three different piles. The spectator is then told to pick which pile he would like. The chosen pile is then dealt into three different piles. The spectator is then asked to flip the top card of each pile and to the spectators surprise the top cards are the three lost kings...

Method: Take Kings out of the deck

1. Palm three cards from the deck. 2. Tell spectator to place all four kings on the deck. You then square the deck and place the palmed cards on the deck. (The order from the top will be- 3 indifferent cards, then the four kings.) 3. Tell the spectator that you are going to take the four kings and you are going to place them in different spots of deck. Count off the top four cards 1 by 1 onto the table. (The order on the table will be one king at the top, and three indifferent cards at the bottom.) 4. Pick up the four cards from the table. 5. Flip the top card, which is a king, and place it on the table. 6. Take the three indiferent cards and place them 1 by 1 in different parts of the deck. (Spectators now think you just placed the three kings in different parts of the deck.) 7. (The three kings are still on top of the deck.) Ask the spectator to cut the deck in three even piles. 8. (Stay focus on the pile that contains the three kings) Force the spectator the pile that contains the three kings by the "Process of Elimination". 9. Tell the spectator to think of a number between 10 and 15. 10. Once they thought of that number, tell the spectator to deal off that amount down to the table. 11. (The dealt pile contains the three kings at the bottom) The left over card(s) are placed to the side with the rest of the deck. 12. Tell spectator to pick up dealt pile. Tell spectator to deal cards from left to right into three piles. 13. Tell spectator to flip over the top cards of each pile. There are the three kings...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Effect: The magician allows the spectator to choose a card. Once they see it, they slip it back into the deck. The magician then shuffles the deck and without warning tosses it against a nearby window. After all the cards settle, one is left sticking to the window. When the spectator goes to peel it off, he finds that it's actually stuck on the OUTSIDE of the window. As the cards are gathered up, the spectator's card is found missing and indeed stuck.

Card Trick:

A real baffler, but a little preparation is necessary. Get an exact duplicate of the card you want to force by buying two alike decks. Put double-sided tape (the clear kind) on the face of the card and stick it to the outside of a window near where you will be presenting the trick.

Now, get your spectator - making sure that their back is to the window AT ALL TIMES. Now force the card on them (using your method) and let them slip it back into the deck. Shuffle the cards, but keep a lookout for the card they chose. When you see it, make it the top card of the deck.

Now, WITHOUT WARNING toss the deck past the spectator to the window. Make sure that you palm the top card before you let go. As the spectator turns to watch the cards fly, slip the palmed card into your pocket.

This one is great, but angles are everything. If they see the card before you toss the deck, the trick is a bust.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Effect: The magician takes a long-stemmed glass and announces that he's going to perform a card trick. The thing about this card trick is that he won't be able to touch the cards, because they'll be inside the glass the whole time! Placing the pack face-out in the glass, the magician states that he's going to find all four aces using special "Locator Cards". He reaches into the glass and pulls out a red number card (we'll use the Ten of Hearts for the example) and puts it in front of the rest of the cards in the deck so that it is the card the spectator now sees looking at them through the glass. The magician then states that he will let that red 10 find a red ace. Holding the glass by the stem, the magician passes a cloth napkin over the glass quickly. When the napkin has completed it's quick pass, the red 10 has been replaced by a red ace! The magician then takes the red ace and puts it in back of the deck and passes the napkin again. This time, the red 10 is replaced by the other red ace! Now the magician gets a black number card (say, 6 of spades) for the "Locator" and puts it in front of the red 10. A quick napkin pass, and there's a black ace! The magician takes the ace and puts it in back of the deck. Another pass, and there's the last black ace! Now pull out the pack and put it back in the case, smiling as you take your bow. All of this magic occurs in the glass, so there's apparently no way that you could've manipulated the cards! People will fall down at your feet and worship your incredible abilities ;-)

Card Trick:A slight amount of preparation work is required, but this is worth it. First, find a wine or any other long-stemmed glass that will allow you to set at least half a deck of cards in it. There can be no design on the glass or stem!!! Next, take the two red aces and glue them back to back. Make sure you make them look as much like one card as possible! Do the same with the two black aces. Now get two identical number cards - one black and one red - from an identical deck. Glue one red and one black back to back. Don't do this with the other ones. Finally, get a cloth napkin that is big enough and dark enough to completely cover the glass. With this prep, you're set! Set up the deck like this: The black 6 card face-up on top of the face-down deck. Now, set the double-sided black ace on top of it. Now place the double-sided red 10/black 6 card with the red 10 face-up. Next, comes the double-sided red aces. And finally, the last red 10 FACE-DOWN on the face-down deck. The rest is showmanship. Place the deck in the glass with the bottom card facing your spectator. Announce that you're going to do the trick using a red locator card. Pull the red 10 off the top of the deck and put it on the bottom, facing the spectator. You should now be looking at a red ace. Holding the glass by the stem, you pass the napkin over the glass and spin it around so that the ace is now facing the spectator. It helps if you hold the glass with you fingers rigid and the stem in the first bend of your finger. When you spin the glass, your thumb does the work and your fingers look pretty much the same. Now take the ace and put it on top of the deck. You should now be looking at the other red ace. Perform the pass/spin again, and your spectator sees the other red ace. Now say that you need a black locator card. Take the red/black card off the top with the 6 facing the spectator. Put it on bottom of the deck. You should now be looking at a black ace. Pass/spin and your spectator sees it. Take it and put it on top of the deck and perform the pass/spin. There's the final black ace! Now merely put the deck into the case before anyone gets too close. SUGGESTION: When you get to the black aces, if you stick the Ace of Spades on top so that it's the first ace you'll show, you can ask the spectator to name a black ace. Nine out of ten times, they'll say the Ace of Spades! You then make it appear for them. If they happen to mention the Ace of Clubs, just say "So that leaves the Ace of Spades," and make it appear.
