18 m2 sails may not be enough with fair winds considering the displacement of Egoist. Moreover tacking won't be easy.
Nevertheless, such a rig was used on a fishing dayboat here in France a few years ago and it even did export to Japan.
If ever you wish to rig Egoist so, just remember Egoist hull was designed for unstayed masts so you'd better add a ryder frame to support it.
