EUROPA stamps are ? |

Associated
to european building steps, Europa stamps
symbolise impulse's community
original landmark in philatelcal evolution, these stamps illustrate
universal subjects.
First Europa

"Europa",
a topic which has contributed, and donates premium
knowledge about the contemporary process of the integration and
unification of the ancient continent.
The idea of making a "join stamp
emission" came up in august of the year 1949 promoted by the
European council. The uniform motive for this emission had to
symbolise the community of interest and objectives. |

| On the 15th of september 1956, the six
countries which conjoint the first agreement (Belgium, France,
West-Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and Holland) issued simultaneously
the first 13 EUROPA stamps.
After the first emission, in 1957
proceeded a second, in regard to "Europe, peace factor and source
of welfare", and a third one in 1958 with the theme "The
european Post Union in the service of the european concept" |

In 1959, various European countries founded
the CEPT (European Postal and Telecommunication Organisation), whose
fundamental concept was to reinforce the relation between the members
administration.

From this moment,
every year they started to issue a community set to proceed with the
European stamp, an emission with a generic common theme and a personal
design in every country. Between 1960 and 1992 they have issued
several stamps among other motives : "Wheel with 19 spokes",
"22 petal of a flower", "Flaming sun","Famous
personalities", "Year of the european music", and, in
1992, "Conquering of america" |
The number of countries has been
increasing gradually, and nowadays more tan 40 Post Administration are
issuing stamps of the Europa series.

Since 1992, the
CEPT appears modified and with a new logotype. In the equivalent
manner which the European Union has determined a monetary union,
materialised in the Euro, the post stamp has been unified and the more
clear example of this unification, we find it in the new emissions of
these series. |

The theme
"Europa" in the thematic philately is
underlined for its particularities. Between others : a single annually
emission, the facial coincides with the corresponding stamping of each
country, elevated percentage of philatelic rarity, and large
acceptation in whole Europe |
