Eric Serra
Born on September 9, 1959 in Paris, Eric Serra starts to play guitar where as he's only five years old. Teenager, he plays within various formations of rock'n'roll and jazz-rock'n'roll. Then he accompanies by the famous singers like Catherine Lara, Mory Kante, Didier Lockwood, Youssou'N Dour and Murray Head... From 1980 to 1984, he works as a bass player and a head of orchestra for the singer and compositer Jacques Higelin. On the whole, Eric Serra participle as a musician to about fifty albums.

Talented autodidact, Eric Serra enters in the universe of the cinema a little by chance, by the intermediary of the director Luc Besson. He makes his beginnings in 1982, at his sides, for "The Last Battle". Two years later, the duet meets a first great success with the film "Subway". But should be waited until 1988, and the success resounding of "The Big Blue" so that the team is devoted. The album of the original tape is number one of the sales in France during more than three months ! Also Platinum and Gold Disc in several countries, it will be sold on the whole with more than 2 500 000 specimens... Strong this success, the compositions of Eric Serra forlong measurings of Luc Besson continues to meet the regard of the public, that it is that of "La Femme Nikita" or "Atlantis", recorded in London with Royal Philarmonic Orchestra, and also that of "The Professional". The compositer also carried out the original tape of film of the series James Bond, "Goldeneye", of the director Martin Campbell.

The musical partitions for the cinema of Eric Serra are preceded on several occasions. The original tape of "Subway" gains the Victory of the Best film music and receives a double Gold Disc in 1985 (with 200 000 albums sold in France). Double Diamond Disc (with more than 2 500 000 sold albums), the theme of "The Big Blue" obtains as for him a Cesar and the Victory of the best film music, as well as the Great prize of the audio-visual musical realization of the SACEM in 1989. The list of the distinctions continues with "La Femme Nikita", which accepted Cesar of the best film music as well as a double Disc of Gold and "The Professional", whose music obtained a Victory.
