Elle est née en 1940.

Kathryn est particulièrement connue pour son rôle de Mme Landingham dans la série "A la Maison Blanche". Mais elle est aussi apparue à plusieurs reprises dans "Dharma and Greg", et a joué les guest-stars dans des séries telles "Becker", "Ally Mcbeal", "Providence", "Scrubs" et plus de vingt autres séries en prime-time. Kathryn est aussi apparue cette année dans le feuilleton d'ABC, "General Hospital". Sa carte de visite est impressionante pour une actrice qui a seulement commencé à jouer à l'âge de 42 ans et qui est arrivée à Holliwood il y a sept ans.

Elle a commencé sa vie active comme infirmière en psychiatrie. C'est à son travail qu'elle a rencontré son mari. Ils ont eu deux enfants. En 1980, elle divorce et se retrouve dans une difficile situation : une mère seule avec deux jeunes fils. Elle choisit alors une nouveau choix de carrière. Elle prend des cours au Théâtre de Steppenwolf à Chicago, et joue dans de nombreux théâtres à travers l'Illinois...
