These files let you see how versatile Rainer could be on his approach of the Dobro and National Steel guitars (associated with an unusual use of echo stompboxes...). His mastering of slide and fingerpicking, with an optimal use of open-tunings (G and A-tunings on his Dobro, D and E-tunings on the National Steel for the bluesier stuff...), allowed him to travel quite easily through several styles, from the straight country stuff of "Seldom Matters" with Giant Sand to the incredible and surprising "Nod To N2O" ambient tune remixed by The Grid, through pure wonderful blues like the traditionnal "Long Long Way To The Top Of The World", Robert Johnson's "If I Had Possession Over Judgement Day" or Billy Boy Arnold's "I Wish You Would", and the grungy and rusty country-punk of "Evil" with The Band Of Blacky Ranchette...
