Sonyhome's tweaking webpages
Sonyhome's tweaking webpages
You will find in these pages how-to's I've made
for the different projects I'm undertaking. These
include cars, computers and whatever other random
things that I fancy.
- Vehicles
- Dodge Neon repairs
I used to own a Dodge Neon Sport '95, a Gen-1 model.
They are famous for their head gasket problems, though
it's the timing belt that got me. I lost it on i395 going
to Bodi.
- Honda Del-Sol repairs
I own a Honda Del Sol 1993 Si (1.6L SOHC VTEC, 125HP D16z6 engine), milano red.
I bought this car to play with, and learn mechanics.
Of course, I procrastinated and therefore focussed first
on aesthetics and electricity which doesn't scare me as much.
In some countries, it is called CRX Del Sol. The models in
europe would be ESI, while the VTI would match the 160HP VTEC
model. The S (1.5L non VTEC) model doesn't exist in Europe I think.
- Honda CR-V upgrades
I own a Honda CR-V 2002 EX (2.4L iVTEC, 160HP), mojave mist color, aka an ugly gold brown.
I bought that guy to go on long trips that lead to forest roads or snow. It's recent enough that so far I don't have to repair anything - except dents. I am doing maintenance and upgrades to it. I am also starting to be interrested in hypermiling so I'm gonna "upgrade" the aerodynamics of that guy to get good MPG.
- Other stuff
- Rebuilding laptop batteries
You buy 18650 batteries, pry open the pack and resolder it all. Plug it in hoping it won't catch fire. It can!
- Unlocking the dvx100b DVD player to be region free.
At the same time I fixed some of its design flaws like
stupid blue glow and missaligned remote control sensor.
In the glorious times, I did play around with an Apex 500A to unlock it, and add a hard disk in it.

- Hypermiling energy/gas savings with cars
GasSavers
An hypermiling site where you can discuss driving techniques, aerodynamic modifications...
- CleanMPG
Another hypermiling site. On this one you'll find in the hardware section forums on the Scan Gauge (for OBD-2 cars) and the MIMA (for older cars), which compute your MPG in real time. You can also look at the hypermiler jargon there... FAS, DWB, glide
