French/USA connections

Even if I live far from home, I don't forget my country and always promote its culture here in Florida. In this page I want to share some information with all the people out there who are already living a foreign experience and those who want to have one in a near future. I would like to hear from you and maybe exchange some nice experiences and helpful tips to make these experiences even better.
It took me more than a year to prepare my American experience, and I think a good preparation is the key to a successful adventure.

I keep in touch with France through French/American or American/French non-profit associations and different activities which I will give you additional information later.

Many people around the globe have an American dream,and some of them try to realize it one day or another. But I think the best part of it is having a chance to meet in the U.S.A all the nationalities in one spot, and be able to share our cultural differences. It's like travelling around the world without moving!!

Club Français International:
It is a local(Bradenton, FL) and friendly association of people from different nationality. There are casual meetings twice a month where we only talk in French about almost everything. Its President is Mr Walter Jensen, former French Teacher in different universities accross America, who is American but fell in love with the French culture long time ago.
Club TELI (Travail-Etudes-Loisirs-Internationaux):
Association based in France , created in 1991 by a traveller Mr Dominique Girerd who wanted to share his travel experiences with other. Each member (more than a 1000 now) receive a Newsletter 5 times/year full of addresses, tips, testimonies, classifieds, files. It is mainly for French who want to get information on how to prepare themselves for a foreign experience (job, training period, aupair, vacation) especially in North America, Australia, and Europe or for international people who want to get French contacts. Nice reference book :"Travailler aux Etats-Unis":
Published in France in March 95 by "Rebondir Edition", written by Caroline Livio. She spent some time accross the states collecting helpful testimonies and tips from French already installed in the U.S.A, good book to start with.
