UPSTART...Just the Start !

This Review is taken from the Skinhead as Fuck website, I’d give you the link, but I don’t care enough to... so go figure it out for yourself.

“When I first saw the CD I thought it looked like a mix of Rudimentary Peni and Madball, both pretty good bands. When I first listened to the CD I thought it sounded like pure shit and I still do. This has to be one of the most miserable records of American hardcore history, stupid lyrics that all sound the same, a singer that sounds like he had his balls removed and annoyingly short songs (twelve tracks in no more than around 25 minutes). I'm sorry but all I can say to these kids is to grow up and put this crap in the garbage.

Now you might think that I say this because I'm not the biggest hardcore fan around, but even I (who mostly listens to soul and reggae) can enjoy good hardcore once in a while and I know that this ain't exactly something you would like to be played in your stereo. First of all the "layout" of all the songs are more or less exactly the same, with same kind of chorus. Then I'd get fucking angry if I would have to pay full price for an album that lasts only around 25 minutes so I wouldn't even recommend this record to my deepest enemies (well guess I would, but it sounded evil didn't it?).

This CD isn't good for anything, screw it and buy something else for the money. There is a lot of good hardcore out there and this doesn't just fit the measure. Fuck this record, fuck the band members and instead of listening to this shit you could fuck your girlfriend (and I don't mean that you should fuck her in the same way as the band members)... "

Well now, I’m smart enough to rip this “review” to shreds word for word, line for line, but then I’ll assume you are as well and so I won’t bother.
What I will say about it that... well fuck me, the CD I sent this guy, that he asked for mind you, was FREE. I don't bitch about reviews, I think this would be the second one I’ve bothered to complain about, the first being a review that Punk ‘n Oi! in the UK did for the Kidnap CD, and with that one, I was and am dead convinced that the person didn’t actually listen to the CD but rather some other shit CD and got confused, cuz it was that far off the mark.
With this CD, I think the guy listened to it and obviously didn’t like it. But then I don’t think he knows fuck all about what is good to begin with (I’ve read a few other reviews he has up), ok, so here I'll pick at one part of his review that really annoys me... how DARE he complain that it was/is a 25 minute CD... that’s the whole point of American Hardcore, even Hardcore in general, fuck that’s the point of  Punk, fast and loud... look at the Partisans first LP, that clocks in at around 20 minutes, the Circle Jerks “Group Sex” LP again is like 20 minutes and the list goes one, so basically the Assailants CD is just fuckin long if anything.... and! WHO the FUCK EVER!!! put Rudimentary Peni and Madball in the same sentence EVER !?!?!?!?!?
Fuckin moron... I say you buy the CD and tell me what you think, or just download one of the MP3s on the release page.

OK, so now that that’s outta my system...

Upstart’s back and in full swing ; we’ve sorted out the
PayPal thingy, so you can use your lovely debt increasing Credit Cards. We’ve got a new CD in the works, a return CD if you will... a Demob collection. Hopefully that’ll be out around April.

Until then, I’ve recently updated the mail-order page and probably will again soonish, as I have more good shit in stock. But check out all the T-Shirts, they are cheap and fuckin good !
Same ol’ same ol’ be daring and try something new...

So I’ve gotta go and steal the pennies from dead men’s eyes...
   Cheers,

Josh
