As a member of the Belgian animal rights organisation GAIA (Global Action in the Interest of Animals) I wish to express my deepest concern regarding the sealhunt.

Like so many people all over Europe and the world who care about the welfare of defenseless animals, we are terribly shocked to learn about the massacre that your country is about to carry out among seals.

The often heard argument that 'seals eat to much cod' is a false one. Animals never eat too much fish. Fishermen and their governments, not seals, are responsible for the decreasing amounts of cod in the oceans.

The real driving force behind the massive killings of seals is the fur trade.

We strongly urge the Norwegian government to stop these slaughterings of defenseless animals. Please show the world that compassion towards innocent sentient beings matters to the Norvegian government too.
